Mary Donovan

Mary is the founder and Principal Consultant with Caragh Consulting. She is a former senior executive of Diageo and has 20+ years of experience in the successful design and implementation of change, in large complex global organisations. Mary is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds B.Comm.(Hons.) degree from UCC.

Mary's specific areas of expertise are in strategy development and the design and implementation of integrated operating models that ensure strategies can be executed effectively and efficiently.

Mary's principal assignments and roles have comprised:

  • Design integration of a new Operating Model for the Global Kerry Ingredients and Flavours (KIF) business. Working with the senior leaders of the Kerry business to re-design all elements of the Operating Model - business strategy, processes, roles and responsibilities, organisation structures, information systems and governance structures
  • The re-design of the Performance Management Process for (KIF) identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), the approach to target setting, measurement and monitoring, root cause analysis and linkage to reward systems
  • As Diageo PLC Business Process & Data Director led a geographically dispersed and highly skilled team with accountability for the design, integration and governance of the Diageo global business processes - manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, financial and customer management processes
  • Developed and implemented the Strategy for Process Performance Management (PPM) across the global organisation, embedding executive ownership of end to end processes. Established common process performance metrics, creating the structures & governance to deliver sustained improvement in business efficiency and effectiveness
  • Developed the Data Strategy for the global business, identifying senior business owners of all data domains, establishing key data KPIs to be measured, monitored and optimised, improving the quality of data, reducing costs and improving customer service
  • As Diageo Ireland Information Systems (IS) Director led a team of IS professionals with accountability for the development and implementation of an Information Systems strategy for the Irish in-market business, that successfully exploited technology to enable business integration and transformation
  • As Business Transformation Lead for Guinness Brewing Worldwide, sourced a multi-disciplinary team to develop the strategy, business case, high-level design and implementation plan for a significant investment in a Business Transformation Program for the global Guinness Business
